Purpose of a Resume

The primary purpose of your resume is to show the employer that you have the skills and meet the requirements for the role you’re applying to. Tailoring your resume is critical to showing the employer your alignment with the role.

The content on your resume, specifically the bullet points in your skills section (if applicable) and in your experience sections should be presented as Accomplishment Statements:

SKILL: What skill did you showcase? This should be a skill related to the position that you’re applying to
HOW: What steps, actions, process did you use?
IMPACT: What was the result, outcome, importance etc.
